Today's stats
Temperature - low 19, high 32
Weather - Sunny
Miles traveled - 360
Today (and tomorrow) are rather long days so everyone got up a bit earlier,
We check out of our rooms and headed over to Sheila's Restaurant for breakfast
And we were on the road by 8:30, which was the same time as yesterday so getting up early didn't help at all
Today's worlds largets monument is presented to you by the little town of Fanning, Missouri and the Fanning Outpost General Store
Worlds largest rocking chair
As you can see by the photo above, this store has suffered the fate of many of the establishments along this route. Hopefully things will turn around in the near future.
Continuing our journey south we made it to Springfield, Missouri (apparently there is a Springfield in ever state in the USA). We pulled over at a restaurant that bore the same name as Jack
But like Jack, it doesn't work weekends so we went next door
Today's post is entitled Kansas and we did ride Route 66 through this state. Unfortunately only 13 miles of this road is in the state so we found ourselves in Oklahoma fairly quickly. Like Dorthy said, "I don't think we're in Kansas anymore."
We finally made it to Tulsa, Oklahoma around 6:30 and checked into the Campbell Hotel which was built in 1927 and has all the character of that time
Ok the outside doesn't look that great but it's a real nice hotel inside (why didn't I take a picture of the inside?)
Don't ask how much this cost, please don't ask.
